WHO WE ARE

A monthly book club dedicated to literacy, community, and service.

Meet LaParis

LaParis Hawkins is the founder of Books & Bonnets. A monthly book club dedicated to literacy, community, and service. Her love for books stems from childhood where she was an only child with an extensive library. She cultivated her passion for words in high school as the Senior Editor for the school's newspaper and editor. After graduating from college with a B.A. in English, she moved to New York where she worked as a beauty freelance writer and editor for ESSENCE and EBONY Magazines. Eventually she would go on and review books for the American Library Association's magazine Booklist for years. After returning to her hometown St. Louis, Hawkins started Books & Bonnets as a way to connect with like minded women who appreciate literature and sisterhood.
